Dr. R. Prabhakaran

About the Author: Dr. Prabhakaran was born in Tamil Nadu, India and migrated to the USA after receiving his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mathematics from Indian universities. Then, he earned his master’s and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science and an MBA degree in Information Management from US universities. In addition to academic positions, he has held senior level management positions in private industries and has been responsible for the management of large supercomputing centers at the NASA Research Center and at the US Army Research Laboratory in the USA. He is passionate about Tamil language and literature and has authored commentaries on Puaranaanuuru and Kurunthokai. He has organized and served as the Coordinator for International Conferences on Thirukkural, Puaranaanuuru and Kurunthokai. He was introduced to Thirukkural at a very young age by his father. That served as the inspiration for him to continue his study and research on Thirukkural. He has written numerous essays and delivered several lectures on Thirukkural related topics in India and in the USA. This book contains scholarly essays on several topics where Thiruvalluvar’s philosophy is compared with those of ancient and modern scholars and philosophers..

Hello, sir, I read your book and found it enlightening. This book offers the opportunity for any reader, regardless of whether they are familiar with Thirukkural or not, to understand and appreciate it's deeper aspects as a treasure trove of Tamil culture and conduct.

The book compares Thiruvalluvar with other philosophers and thinkers such as Confucius from China, and the Greek Socrates and Plato, among others, juxtaposing similarities and differences in their beliefs and Thiruvalluvar's. As pointed out by George L. Hart in the foreword, it "applies the thought and wisdom of the Thirukkural to the world in which those of us in the west love, he finds many intriguing parallels from different times and cultures that illuminate Valluvar's ideas in intriguing ways."
The Ageless Wisdom As Embodied Thirukkural is an interesting read for anyone who wishes to know something more about Tamil literature.
