Hello ma'am. I read your book, Snow and Salt Water & Other Animal Stories. The book constantly reminded me to learn to coexist and sympathise with the other animals. ' Someday Mother Nature will give humans a taste of their own medicine' is a line I'd take home from this work. I gained a new perspective and I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book. Thank you for this incredible piece, ma'am.

I am honoured, Abhishika. Your words make me feel my effort has not been in vain.

A wonderful book apt for young minds. This book in fact has the ability to lighten the mood of adults as well. The key factor of attraction for me in this book was the way in which the animal’s perspective on humans is portrayed.

Pushpa Kurup

Deepa i am glad u like the book. Thanks.

Hello mam. I would like to say thank for the amazing book "Snow and Salt Water and other Animal Stories." The story deals with Animals, habitations and their views about human. The readers can able to notice the pain of animals through the author's writing. The choice of words is simple and pleasing. We have lot of works based on fables. For eg: George Orwell's "Animal Farm"where he used to focus on political condition of the society through animals. But this book is completely different where author tries to put forth the sufferings of animals and the human behavior. According to my perspective Author strongly portrays that this world is not only for humans but also for the other living creatures too.Pushpa kurup's way of approaching and detail explanation about several animal and their origins makes the novel more interesting. More over it's in a conversational tone. This book also gives several information about places. while reading this book reader can feel the impact. I have few questions Mam, what made you to write this book? and Did you feel any difficulties on choosing animal characters instead of human? And finally This book is must needed one for the current situation, people should try to attempt the book. So, that it is easy to travel along. Such a important message conveyed in a compact and elegant form!

Hello mam. I have read your book, "Snow and Salt Water and other Animal Stories." It was really amazing to see things from the perspective of Animals. I'd like to know what inspired you to write this book?

Pushpa Kurup

oh boy! that's a tough one! i wanted to give a different perspective, to see things from a non-human point of view, so that young people like you will start thinking and acting to save our planet and its creatures.

Catherine Michael

That's great mam. Looking forward to more of your work.

Hi ma'am, First of all I found the title of the book interesting which tempted me to read it. I'm also find of animals. It was really interesting to read this kind of perspective. Animals are also marginalised in the world and you brought them to consideration through your work. The book is thought provoking. Also what made you write this kind of a perspective ma'am?

Pushpa Kurup

well, I wanted to present a different perspective, because i never really believed that all other creatures were meant to serve mankind. i would like young people to understand animals and birds better and make efforts to preserve them. also it is important to understand non-textbook history and geography, so i've tried to present these subjects too in a different way, with many cross-linkages.

Ashitha PR

Very well ma'am. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. The book suits for the adult readers too as it is entertaining and informative. I hope the young generation understands your thoughts about animals and make efforts to preserve them. Thank you once again for your great work.

Pushpa Kurup

thank u Ashitha! i have more faith in the young. remember Oscar Wilde's words, "the old believe everything; the middle-aged suspect everything; the young know everything."

Ashitha PR

Well said ma'am. Thank you so much.

Hai ma'am. This book is a complete entertaining animal fable. With their habitats, environment, emotions you successfully conveyed your point against anthropocentrism. Kudos to that. Mostly I read books related to it and this book is such a delight with easy language . The content to be understood is given where no readers will have difficulty to understand your point of view.

Ashifa

The plight arround us is because of 'us' (humans) . The same is explained in this book . It talks about anthropocentrism and author is against it . She tells the world is for all and not only for humans. Humans mostly place themselves at the centre but they don't know they aren't even need by the world. Nothing is gonna stop if man dies but it is not in the case of other creatures.
Here, the author talks about it through animals and through their habitat. If you have time of 2 hours , then just take this book and have a read. This is my personal review for this book and the above is about author and her writing skill❤️

Pushpa Kurup

Thank u Ashifa!

Ashifa

Pleasure ma'am?

Ashifa

Is my review is worth? Is my language is good?

Pushpa Kurup

Good Ashifa. I agree with your thoughts. We are not the centre of the universe. The planet can manage without us.

Ashifa

Thanks ma'am

Hi Ma'am. 'Snow and Salt Water and Other Animal Stories' is both fascinating and informative work of art and I heartfelt congratulations and thanks for presenting it to the world. It has interesting collection of tales representing different perspectives of animals about the human species. I really enjoyed being traveled with various animals life where my mind got illuminated with numerous facts about them and the human world. The depiction of histories, origins, biological and psychological entities of animals and their relationship with humans are evocative and crafted finely in a captivating way. Humans intervention over the ecology of animals for his own benefits and its aftermath are intertwined wisely in disclosing the obscurity of animals life. It is an appreciative collection and would be a treat to all the readers as it is enclosed with variety of interesting information in the form of tales.

Pushpa Kurup

Swetha, you gave good writing skills yourself. work on perfecting your sentence construction and grammar. start by writing book reviews - and the rest may follow gradually.

Definitely I'll work on it Ma'am. Thank you so much for your encouraging words.

Hi mam, I started to read this book "Snow and salt water and other animal stories" by Kurup. It was such a wonderful book mam and it was so interesting to read about camel, bear and all other animals. It took me into their world and this book really helped me to know about animals more and the struggle they face in their day to day life. Its so amazing that you have grasped the thought of animal, and its so nice to read this book because it was like an conversation which helped me to be more eager what is going to happen next.... And it was not a boring text where it helped me to know more about animals. This is the first time I am reading these kinds of books. I hope you write more books like this. Hephzibah27-May-2020 01:11:07
Hello ma'am. Firstly, I wish to appreciate your efforts to incorporate immense factual pieces of evidence of the animal kingdom. I enjoyed reading the book from the animal's perspective, which brought out truthful evidence that man and nature are interconnected and interdependent in the circle of life. Also, the plot was interwoven with such craftsmanship that it didn't project an abrupt ending. The plot also surfaces many hidden meanings that enlightened me to get the true scenario of the world I live in. So I would say that this book created an environment of factual learning with fun. Thank you ma'am for your efforts taken to bring out such a wonderful piece of writing.

Pushpa Kurup

Hephzibah, I love the fact that your young mind had the wisdom to read between the lines. As Keats said, "Heard melodies are sweet but those unheard are sweeter.."

Hi mam! I started reading this book only because of my assignment.when i opened it to read,i was very much impressed by your saying that,If animals could speak, mankind would weep. Once i saw this line..I wanted to read this book. This book is really a great work and I loved it.I always love reading fantasies and children literature.when i was a child,I always used to think that why animals are not talking and what will they talk?if they can.Thank you so much for writing this book mam.

Pushpa Kurup

thank u dear for reading it. readers like u make my effort worthwhile.
Harshini27-May-2020 07:41:46
Hii ma'am! I read this book recently and it was very amazing. I was so impressed by the detailed descriptions of the wild animals like Bacterian Camels, Wild Bears, Cheetahs, Tortoise, Elephants, Porcupines and Zebra. But by knowing their struggles in their life made me worried. The inhuman activities of the human beings like hunting, caging the animals and destroying the forest are clearly portrayed in the animal's voice. The story has been carried in different compartments and a conversation between animals, that too a Mother and her Children. The Mother tells her curious Children about their lifestyle, habitat, adaptations and also about the history of the particular places like Mongolia, Vietnam, China, Savannahs, Dzanga Sangha Bai etc, which also helps the readers to know various details. Overall I appreciate the writer's extra ordinary work.. Que to the author: What are all the measures you to took to gather these minute informations ma'am? I would be happy if I get a reply. Thankyou!

Pushpa Kurup

Harshini, It's heart-warming that young people like you are thinking about the future of planet and our co-tenants in this environment. If you are an avid reader with a keen interest in history, geography and biology you are well on your way. Lots of information is available online but u need to know how to sift the wheat from the chaff. You also get conflicting info' so u need to be able to discern what's right and what's wrong. It's the era of fake news after all.

Pushpa Kurup

Harshini, I travel a great deal, so I've actually seen the Bactrian camel in Mongolia (and our own dromedaries in Rajasthan and the Gulf countries) and I wanted to see the world from their perspective. I've seen the African elephant in Zimbabwe and the Asian elephant in Kerala and Sri Lanka, the zebra in Africa, but of them I have seen only in my imagination!

Harshini

Thankyou for spending your valuable time ma'am. Have a good day.
R.Jaffrin27-May-2020 06:11:33
Hey ma'am! I just read the book last night, Got the Kindle version of it and firstly I would say that it is so different from what I thought. Being a literature student I've read a lot of books but never a book that portrays the world and mind of animals. It was cute to read. Cause I personally love animals and I loved this book so much ma'am .
1. What inspired you to write this book?
2. Have you always had a thought in your mind about how animals would think about us? And that's what made you write this book?
Would be happy if I get a reply from you. Overall I enjoyed reading this book so much ma'am. Thanks!

Pushpa Kurup

I'm so glad you liked the book. I've long been concerned about the environment and the fate of the many species that humankind is out to destroy. COVID19 has now shown us that we are on a self-destructive path, yet we are struggling hard to get back on the same path. I thought it might be a good idea to try and see world of men from every animal's point of view. I also write articles in newspapers sometimes. If you google my name you'll find some of those. Do read when u have the time. And thanks for the words of appreciation. It's what keep us going.

R.Jaffrin

Sure ma'am. And yes I agree! Animals do struggle a lot. We are both the destructor and the preserver and it's a great confusion for them. And you brought that out so well. It's sad tho. I felt so sad for them cause I always used to. This book is really special to me ma'am. I used to help animals but I have never thought what they would about us. And yes about the alpha male. It's all so beautiful ma'am. Thanks for this wonderful book again. Not all in this world would wanna be concerned about animals. Cause most of them are not concerned about fellow humans.

Pushpa Kurup

Yes, u r right. But young people can change the world. If only they join hands.

R.Jaffrin

Yes ma'am so true. Please continue writing books like these.
Jyothis Anne George23-Jan-2020 03:01:00
Hi Ma'am, I read this book and found it to be interesting. The stories have been able to impart information and capture the attention as well.
Here is the review of the book
Snow and Salt Water and Other Animal Stories by Pushpa Kurup, is an ingenious work, presenting facts within stories. Writing from the perspective of the animal world, Kurup's book presents how humans are viewed, presenting a dichotomous image of man. Capturing the attention of children and others alike, Kurup has been successful in writing about the harmony that has to be maintained between man and nature.
Presenting the stories of various animals like camels, bears, cheetahs, tortoise and so on, the playful and witty tone has done it's work. The story is written as a conversation taking place between animals, were their plight and situation is explained, along with other facts such as their habitat, other relative species, food, situations with regard to human impact and so on By posing humans as caretakers and destroyers, the author calls for an act of change to conserve and preserve the animal species.

Pushpa Kurup

Thanks for the review. I'm glad you liked the book and the underlying message.
