Fragments from a Musing Mind is a reflection upon the world in and around us. The characters in the poems brand our soul. 'The Old Man', 'Anti-Christ', 'The Gun Shots', 'The Status' and 'The Evening After', to cite a few, lacerate our conscience. The economy of words, diction and the vibrant images make the Fragments from a Musing Mind classic.

Dr.K J.Francis' book "Fragments from a musing mind " is really an amusing one. He is an emerging poet whose poetry presents vivid pictures of numerous odd , but touching moments that he comes across in his daily life out of which he has carved out beautiful images. Many a character is his poetry is familiar to us that we find every nook and cranny. As a poet, on one occasion he laments on the reckless act of man on nature ( as is seen in " They burnt me alive" and on another occasion he reveals some naked truth ( as is seen in " A stranger". ). The poet's comparison the world with an orchestra ( as is seen in " Orchestra " ) is really musing . According to him, the whole world is an orchestra and all creatures are musicians.
He has a special poetical talent to translate everything that is left unnoticed on the earth into beautiful images that will dwell in our heart for now and ever.
May God bless him.

Yes Tomy, poetry for me is an idea. How I transform that idea into an image is that matters. As you rightly pointed out the common images that strike me finds an expression, a shape. Sometimes the shape is only an ornament, a cover to the core that is hidden that I detest reveal. I very much wish to know your reading of 'Guilt and Sorrow' for the sole reason to know whether the reader has got what I conveyed. Thank you very much Tomy. Francis

Hi Sir,
You had mentioned the dates,
What made you publish the poems within this single book?

KJ Francis

I tried to reply. But net failed.
Glad to know that you read my poems. I affix dates to check the development of my poems. Regarding the number of poems in one single book; I wanted it to be a serious affair. In fact my friend Fr Pius suggested that I publish a small collection. I already had that many numbers. My second collection may have some hundred mark. Already there are thirty four for it.
The characters in my poems are not phantoms. They are life-size characters. I might speak more. Fearing Net might fail me I send this now. More of it later. Francis K J

Dear Sona, I'll be only happy to answer any questions on any of my poems. Francis

KJ Francis

They are my reflections on what I see around- man or beast. They attain salvation as I look at them. This might be a tall claim. But I carve a niche for those insignificant men and women. And they attain pathetic glory. Francis

Sona

Thank you Sir, for your kind reply. Loved the poems.

KJ Francis

Dear Sona, rather than making an off the cuff remark I would like you to address some specific points/poems so that I can speak on it how I wrote it and why.
Musings does not imply run away thoughts. The musings are on specific objects for specific reasons. They become poetry as they are treated poetically under the stipulations of poetics. Thank you very much. Francis K J

Sudha P R

I (Sudha) and my daughter read the poems in the book "FRAGMENTS FROM A MUSING MIND". We really enjoyed the poems very much, especially its style, language etc. It is easily accessible to a common reader. When I read the poem "The Old man" it creates some nostalgic mood. it is the best compliment that the author deserves.
God bless you to release your next book as early as possible.
Thank You.

K J Francis

A poem is to be meditated upon. Yes, the Old Man gazes at our conscience. Barring the Old Man other characters in the Fragments are individuals I came across, including A Scare Crow. The encounter might be a flash. But it has left a dent in my mind. It may take some time for the next collection to come out. I don't entertain the idea of coming out with a booklet. It shall have a hundred mark. So far only fifty plus are there.
