Dr Radhika Murugesan was born and brought up in Purasawalkam, Chennai. Her father Late Mr. C Murugesan retired Chief Engineer of Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board TWAD. Her mother, Dr Sucharita Murugesan, a doctor, retired as professor of Pathology Madras Medical College.
Dr Radhika Murugesan was educated in CSI Ewart Matriculation and Higher Secondary School, Purasawalkam. She then finished her MBBS in Madras Medical College in the year 1999. She qualified in the MRCPsych in UK (awarded by the Royal College of Psychiatrists) and completed her 3-year CCT too which is a Higher Specialist Training in Psychiatry. She has also completed Msc in psychiatric research from UCL, London.
Dr Radhika Murugesan has always found her roots in Chennai and with a passion to bring International Standards of care returned to Chennai in 2021 to establish a centre in Thoraipakkam known as Chennai Minds. She believes in dispelling stigma by ways of empowering people with information and continues to write and speak in this regard.
