The present book is giving an insight on Dalit Literature of Tamilnadu and Puducherry and howDalit women faced different kind of atrocities in their day today life for survival. It is focusseson atrocities and problems faced by the Dalit women by the hands of males like their own husbands, father, brother, and other upper-caste men. Dalit literature is opening up a new perspective on Dalit women. The truth is that a Dalit woman's problems are diverse and multifarious when compared to the other caste woman, which necessitated the need to articulate their plight. It is also highlights the status of Dalit women and how they are the victims of a male-dominated patriarchal society. They have to depend on their husbands. Dalit women are illiterate or less educated have no alternative than to work in the fields. They are as hard-working as men. Landless labourers, they have to work in the fields of the landlords. They are the only employers who provide them a means of living. This helplessness of the poor Dalit women becomes their weakness, and the landlords take undue advantage of their misery. They molest and sexually abuse them. They know that if they complain against them, nobody will listen to them, and the ultimate blame will rest on them, and at the same time, they are afraid of losing means of living, as in such event the landlord will no longer allow them to work in their fields. In such circumstances, they prefer to keep in mum, and thus sexual exploitation continues endlessly. Through their writings, Dalit women writers have voiced on behalf of voiceless Dalit women against their age-old patriarchal system.
